Autoblow Hands-Free Mount: Positions and Setup Guide

By Autoblow EU· Last updated 15. Juni 2026

Getting a stable hands-free mount for your Autoblow comes down to the anchor point, the height, and enough reach to angle the device where you actually need it. A bendable pole clamped to a table or bedframe covers most situations. Both the AI Ultra and the VacuGlide 2 mount the same way, and once the angle is sorted, video sync and VR sessions become a lot more immersive.

Autoblow hands-free mount: why bother?

Holding the machine with one hand while trying to watch a scene, navigate the app, or keep a video sync session running is genuinely awkward. Your arm does work it should not have to, which is the opposite of the point.

A hands-free mount fixes that. Your hands stay free, the machine holds the angle you set, and the session becomes something you sink into rather than manage.

Neither the AI Ultra nor the VacuGlide 2 is heavy, so you do not need an industrial rig. A quality bendable pole and a decent anchor point is all most people need. The challenge is knowing which anchor suits which situation, and how to set the angle so you are not readjusting it every few minutes.

The two main mounting approaches

Most setups fall into one of two categories:

1. Bendable / flexible pole mounts
A gooseneck or flexible arm clamped to a table edge, headboard, or nightstand. You bend the pole into position, lock it, and it holds. These are the most versatile option because they reach in any direction and work on almost any furniture. For video sync sessions where the screen is in front of you, a bendable pole clamped to a desk or bedside table is usually the go-to.

2. Fixed-arm desk mounts
Think monitor arm style: a rigid jointed arm that locks at specific angles. More precise and better for repeating the exact same position each time, but less forgiving if your preferred angle is awkward for the arm's range of motion.

For most users, a flexible pole mount is the better starting point. It costs less, packs away smaller, and covers far more positions. Fixed arms shine when you have found your perfect angle and want to dial it in exactly, session after session.

Which machine, which mount?

The AI Ultra and VacuGlide 2 have different shapes, so the mount setup is slightly different in practice:

The VacuGlide 2 has a hose port at one end, so you need to make sure the mount does not press against or kink the hose. Give it a couple of centimetres of clearance and you will not have a problem. Full details on the VacuGlide 2 setup are on the product page.

For the AI Ultra, the mount can grip around almost any part of the body except the control panel end. The mid-body is the sweet spot for balance.

Step by step: setting up your hands-free mount

Once you have your pole mount, the actual setup takes about five minutes:

  1. 1Choose your anchor. A table edge works. So does a bedframe rail or headboard, as long as the clamp jaw opens wide enough to grip it. Measure the thickness before you buy if you are not sure.
  2. 2Clamp at roughly the right height. You want the pole tip to reach the position you need without extending the arm to its absolute limit, which is where wobble happens. Two-thirds of the arm's maximum extension is a more stable sweet spot.
  3. 3Rough-position the device first. Before you tighten anything fully, place the machine in the rough position and check it feels right. It is much easier to adjust now than after everything is tight.
  4. 4Lock the mount angle, then fine-tune. Tighten the clamp fully. Then flex the gooseneck to your exact position. Most gooseneck mounts hold better when you bend them slowly and deliberately rather than forcing a sharp angle.
  5. 5Test without the machine first. Give the mounted arm a firm push. If it holds without swinging back, it is solid enough. If it bounces, either tighten the clamp or try a thicker part of the anchor point.
  6. 6Attach the device and recheck. The slight extra weight sometimes shifts the angle. A small correction now saves readjustment mid-session.

Hands-free mounting for video sync and VR

If you are setting up specifically for video sync or a VR session, there is one extra consideration: your line of sight.

For screen-based video sync, the machine needs to be roughly in front of you while the screen is also in front of you. A desk setup works well here: mount the pole on the near edge of the desk so the machine sits just below the monitor. You look at the screen naturally, the machine is positioned below your eyeline, and nothing blocks anything.

For VR, you cannot see the machine at all once the headset is on, so position it before putting the headset on and do not rely on checking it mid-session. A slightly lower angle than you think you need tends to work better because the headset shifts your centre of gravity forward slightly.

A few habits that make these sessions smoother:

  • Start the sync session before putting on the headset. The machine needs to be running before you lose sight of it.
  • Use a slightly shorter gooseneck extension for VR. Less arm = less wobble when you shift position.
  • For long sessions, check the clamp grip at the 30-minute mark. Some clamps relax slightly under sustained use and benefit from a small re-tighten.

Common mounting mistakes and how to fix them

A few things come up repeatedly when people first try hands-free setups:

The pole swings or drifts during use. Nearly always a clamp issue. Either the clamp is not tight enough, or the anchor point (table edge, headboard) is not thick or rigid enough to grip firmly. Try moving the clamp to a thicker or more solid part of the furniture.

The angle shifts after a few minutes. Flexible gooseneck arms lose grip if they are bent past a sharp angle rather than a gentle curve. Straighten the arm out a bit and reshape to your position using smooth, gradual bends rather than tight kinks.

The mount does not reach where you need it. You either need a longer arm or a different anchor position. Moving the clamp further away from you (further along the table edge, for instance) gives you more reach without buying new kit.

The VacuGlide 2 hose is being pushed against the mount. The hose should sit freely. If the mount bracket is pressing on it, move the attachment point up the body of the device, away from the hose end. Even a couple of centimetres of clearance is enough.

Comfort and safety basics

None of this needs to be over-thought, but a couple of points are worth keeping in mind.

Weight limits: The AI Ultra and VacuGlide 2 are light machines, but mount arms have rated weight limits. Most quality gooseneck mounts for tablets or cameras handle these devices without issue. Check the spec sheet before buying a very cheap no-name arm.

Stability over height: A lower, stable mount beats a higher, wobbly one every time. If the position is uncomfortable, a small pillow or wedge under yourself is often easier than extending the arm another 10 cm.

Easy release: Make sure you can remove the device quickly and without tools. Cleaning should happen after every session. The cleaning guide covers exactly what to do and how long it takes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best hands-free mount for the Autoblow AI Ultra?+

A flexible gooseneck or bendable pole clamped to a table edge or bedframe works well for most setups. Clamp to the mid-body of the device (not the control panel end) and position the arm at about two-thirds of its maximum extension to keep wobble to a minimum.

Can I mount the VacuGlide 2 the same way as the AI Ultra?+

Yes, the principle is the same, but give the hose port a couple of centimetres of clearance when you choose the attachment point on the device body. Pressing against the hose port will restrict airflow and affect suction. Mount around the upper body, away from the hose end.

What surface can I clamp a mount to?+

Table edges, desk lips, headboards, and bedframe rails all work well. The key is that the surface needs to be thick and rigid enough for the clamp jaw to grip firmly without slipping. Check the clamp's jaw opening size against your furniture before buying.

How do I stop the mount from shifting during use?+

Almost always a clamp tightness issue. Tighten the clamp as firmly as it allows, and make sure you are clamping to a solid, rigid surface. For gooseneck arms, avoid sharp kinks and use smooth, gradual curves instead. A kinked gooseneck loses grip faster than a gently curved one.

How should I set up a hands-free mount for video sync?+

For video sync, clamp to the near edge of your desk so the machine sits below your monitor. Your eyes stay on the screen, the machine is in position below your natural eyeline, and nothing blocks your view. Start the sync session running before you get comfortable, not after.

What angle works best for VR sessions?+

Set the angle before putting on the headset because you cannot see the machine once it is on. A slightly lower angle than you think you need tends to work well because a VR headset shifts your posture slightly forward. Run a quick test before starting a long session.

Do I need a different mount for the AI Ultra and VacuGlide 2?+

You can use the same mount type for both. The main practical difference is that the VacuGlide 2 needs a longer arm or a different clamp position to keep the hose port clear. A gooseneck with a bit more reach is useful if you use both machines on the same mount.

Where can I buy a compatible mount for autoblow.shop?+
